CORE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
- The core program consists of Humanities Core (Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies) and Sciences Core (Math, Science, Health), visual and performing arts electives, and physical education.
- Commitment is to provide all students access to a challenging comprehensive curriculum where all can succeed.
- Commitment to foster smaller learning environments which nurture relationships with peers, significant adults and the larger world.
- Commitment to provide a network of support that promotes the development of physically and emotionally healthy lifestyles.
- Students will be heterogeneously grouped.
- All identified ELL students will be served by CLAD trained staff and support from bilingual instructional assistants. All identified Special Education students are supported through RSP/SDC programs at the site.
ASSESSMENT DATA:
STATEMENT OF NEED AS A RESULT OF DATA ANALYSIS:
- There is a need to improve student performance in Reading, Language, and Spelling and enhance student ability to comprehend, interpret, and analyze text in the content areas.
- There is a need to improve student performance in math comprehension and math operations.
SITE OBJECTIVES:
- Students will increase their understanding of reading and language arts as demonstrated by an overall 5% NCE growth in Reading and Language scores on the new state standardized test.
- Students will use the writing process effectively as measured by an overall 5% improvement on the district 8th grade performance assessment.
