Digital Citizenship & Internet Safety

Students have access to YouTube hosted educational resources, like Khan Academy and TedEd.  San Lorenzo schools have network web filters and classroom education about Digital Citizenship and Internet safety.  Parental guidance and awareness is just as important at home. Here are some helpful resources of information to guide you and your student.

Digital media is an excellent way teachers introduce and reinforce concepts to their students and increase engagement in the classroom. Please explore the following multimedia resources recommended by the District.

Brain Pop Icon Brain Pop provides access to animated resources that really engages students, including movies on hundreds of topics, quizzes, games, mobile apps, and activity pages. Students should use their Chrome browser and log in with their District Google account to monitor their progress gauge their progress. Learn 360 Icon Learn 360 provides access to a web-based digital video library consisting of thousands of K-12 core-curriculum videos, video clips, newsreels, audio and video speeches, still images, and audio files. Newsela - Discuss current events at home and build reading comprehension skills.  The Newsela website provides news articles at multiple reading levels in English and Spanish so every student can become well-informed critical thinkers.  Students should use their Chrome browser and log in with their District Google account to monitor their progress gauge their progress. YouTube - Many education videos are located in K-12 channels that can be filtered by grade and subject area. 
teded.png TED Education Channel - TED videos are inspiring and informational.  TED Ed videos and animations are targeted to K-12 students.

KHAN Academy - Provides free academic lessons ranging from basic math to chemistry for K-12 students and beyond. Great resource for teachers and students to use.
