STUDENT POLICY

Circulation Policy

  • A current WMMS ID is required to checkout material. You must have the ID with you to check out material.
  • There is a 5 book check out limit.
  • Reference books are checked out for overnight use only and are due back the next day. There is no renewal of checkouts for reference books.
  • General collection books have a 10 day check out period and can be renewed one time for an extended 10 day period if there is no hold on the book from another student.
  • Special due dates of 3 or 4 checkout days are used for classes doing research projects.

Fines and Fees

  • Overdue books from the general collection (non-reference books) will receive a 10 cent per school day fine.
  • Overdue reference books will receive a 15 cent per school day fine.
  • Damage book fees start at $2. Severely damaged books are charged replacement cost.
  • All fines and fees are to be paid in cash (no checks).
  • Any material that is 1 month or more overdue will be charged to the student as if lost.
  • Payment of fines can be worked off if there is a financial hardship. Student should talk to the librarian and immediately set a date to work off the fine before 2 nd or 3 rd notices are issued.

Overdue Notices

  • All checked out material is stamped inside the front cover with a due date. This is the student’s notice of when the material needs to be return to avoid fines and overdue notices. Each days due date is also displayed at the circulation desk.
  • As a courtesy the library sends out a weekly overdue notice of books and unpaid fines.
  • Notices are given out during first period Monday and students are responsible for taking care of returns and fines during that week.
  • If the student has not cleared by the 3 rd notice or 3 rd week after the due date a detention is assigned.

Printing and Copying

  • There is a 10 cents per page fee for both computer printout and copying from the copy machine. Students can save money if they buy a “Library Printer Card” for 50 cents that will give them 10 prints (5 cents per print) for either the copier or computer.

Computer Policy

  • Before using the computers in the Media Center students must have an Internet Wavier on file in the office, present the librarian with their student ID cards, be cleared of all overdue fines, and have no overdue books.
  • Computers are to be used for school assignments only. There is no free time or game time allowed.
  • Going on unauthorized sites will result in the loss of computer use in every class for the remainder of the year and will result in disciplinary action.
To prevent viruses infecting our school & district computers students are not allowed to bring from home their floppy disks, CD, or URL’s to download off the school’s networked computers. The library has two off-line computers to be used with computer disks from home. See the librarian before you use any computer for such purpose.
