PG&E’S PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFF ADVISORY

Dear SLZUSD Families:

Many people are aware of PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff advisory due to expected gusty winds and dry conditions, combined with a heightened fire risk over the next few days. We were notified that PG&E may need to turn off the power for public safety in approximately 36 to 48 hours beginning tomorrow October 9th.

As we continue to monitor conditions, please prepare for outages that could last longer than 48 hours. The district has no control over when and where these shutoffs may occur and may not receive any other advance notices.

Currently, we are continuing with business as usual for tomorrow, October 9th and school will remain in session. If power is shut off before school starts, we will notify you through our Blackboard Connect system (email and phone calls) and our website.

If power is shut off during school and we need to close schools, we will also attempt to notify you through Blackboard Connect and our website. Normal dismissal procedures will be followed should we close schools early. We will have supervision until all students are picked up or have gone home.

As always, the safety of our students, staff and our school community is our top priority. We will keep you apprised of additional information as it becomes available.
