DISTRICT MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the San Lorenzo Unified School District is to work together with parents and the community to develop critical and creative thinkers who are knowledgeable, responsible, and caring participants who contribute to a changing world.

District Vision
  • All human beings have the right to be valued and respected.
  • Positive human relations are critical to the well being of our society.
  • Issues regarding human relations need to be given top priority.
  • Efforts to improve human relations involve everyone.
  • Human Relations will not be impacted significantly unless included as part of the District's educational policy.

The mission of the San Lorenzo Unified School District's Human Relations committee is to promote interpersonal and intergroup understanding, enhance appreciation and respect for the differences between people, improve communication between the different elements in the school community, and generally make the District more sensitive and responsive to the community it serves.

Bay School's Vision
Early adolescence is a time of transition. No other age encompasses such a unique range of intellectual, physical, ethical, emotional and social development. To address the special needs of young adolescents we envision elementary schools which:

  • Provide all students access to a challenging comprehensive curriculum where all can succeed.
  • Foster smaller learning environments that nurture relationships with peers, significant adults and the larger world.
  • Engage families within the wider community to support the learning process.
  • Establish a culture and climate of shared responsibility for ongoing improvement and growthin the community it serves.
  • Create a safe environment that recognizes and respects the diversity of our school community.

The Site Representative Council (SRC) of Bay School has been formed to participate in the School Based Coordinated Program Act. SLIP, Title 3 and EIA are the categorical funds and services that will be coordinated by the SRC at Bay School.

The staff, students and parents of Bay School will work together to support all elements of the elementary school vision. We will work together to support and maintain a safe and secure school environment which is conducive to learning and which provides opportunities for each student to develop personal and social responsibility, self-worth, and respect for others as well as a high level of academic achievement.
