Safe Passages is in its second year at Bohannon. We are a social services program committed to helping students and families overcome some of life's challenges by connecting them to social services organizations and resources that they may need but don't know about. Safe Passages is also responsible for implementing the Second Step Violence Prevention Curriculum. This curriculum is designed to teach students pro-social skills in order to reduce impulsive aggressive behavior, the kind of behavior that exposes them to violence. By working with the community and with the staff members at Bohannon, Safe Passages also works to increase the number of after-school programs, school-related activities and family outreach events. To learn more, contact the coordinator, Mr. Baylon, at 317-3833 or drop by the main office to speak with him.

GATE
The Gifted and Talented Education program (GATE) is designed and coordinated by the San Lorenzo Unified School District. The program is available to identified gifted and talented students capable of achieving significantly beyond the level of their peers. Funding has been provided to make available supplemental enrichment classes after school at a variety of sites to those identified as GATE students. Qualification in the Gifted and Talented Education Program is predicated on referral by a school staff member and exceptional abilities in 1) academic performance, 2) visual and performing arts, 3) leadership, 4) intellectual ability or 5) rate of second language acquisition. Nominations are signed by the site principal and sent to the district's GATE Coordinator and reviewed for eligibility. If the student is found eligible his/her guardians are notified and provided a permission form. When the permission form is returned to the GATE office the student will be enrolled in the GATE program.
