WHO MAY APPLY: Applicants must possess the minimum qualifications listed in the bulletin.
HOW TO APPLY: Applicants must complete and submit an official application form before the final filing date. These application forms are available in the Classified Personnel Office.
HEALTH CHARACTER INVESTIGATION: Candidates selected for appointment may be required to pass a medical examination given by a physician to determine physical fitness for District employment. The Commission may disqualify any eligibleon the basis of the examining physician's report. All convictions must be declared on the application. Candidates will be fingerprinted at the time of appointment and are required by law to sign a Loyalty oath. Before beginning work, candidates must submit a verification of either a Chest X-ray or Tuberculin Tine Test (with negative results) to the Classified Personnel Office, such verification to be dated within 60 days prior to employment. All successful candidates will be asked to show proof of employment eligibility.
VETERANS' PREFERENCE: Proof of veteran status must be presented prior to the date of the examination. Upon passing an open-competitive examination, an honorably discharged member of the United States armed forces who served in time of war or national emergency for a period of thirty consecutive days is granted preference of five points. An additional preference of five points is granted to such a veteran if she/he has a service-connected disability of ten percent or more and presents proof of current compensable disability. Veteran's preference does not apply to promotional examinations.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Permanent employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory probationary period of six months for annual employees and 130 working days for school year employees.
SALARIES: All salaries as stated are based on present information and are subject to change. Appointments are made at the minimum salary and increases are granted at specified intervals.
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: Benefits include numerous paid holidays, sick-leave privilege, paid vacations. Coverage by Social Security and enrollment in the Public Employees' Retirement System, dependent on the number of hours worked for Optional group life insurance is available to employees and their families who care to join. MERIT SYSTEM: The Merit System Laws as prescribed by the State Education Code govern all classified (non Teaching) employees. This means that employees are selected on the basis of merit and fitness; that there is no discrimination based on age, sex, sexual orientation gender, ethnic group identification, race ancestry, national origin, religion, color, or mental or physical disability.
