MISSION OF THE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The Mission of the Educational Services Department is to promote student achievement and engagement for all students in Transitional Kindergarten through High School in San Lorenzo Unified School District.  We support quality academic programs through research based curriculum and professional development.  Our Department offers specific support to the model of Balanced Literacy and Language, as well as the model of Academic Discourse. We ensure and encourage parent engagement through multiple opportunities for involvement.  We also provide support for each school to increase the efficacy of teaching and support staff. Resources to Support Children

Following the 2016 Presidential election, we have had requests from teachers and parents regarding resources for talking with children who may be experiencing anxiety. Some important tips--

1.  All of the adults at school are here to support you--school is a safe place to express your concerns.

2. Our school and district stands for peace and justice for all and we teach these concepts to the students

3. We will not tolerate bullying in any form--please report any instances immediately to the teachers and principal

4. Our government has a system of checks and balances and we must trust our elected officials to do the right thing and not allow institutionalized forms of bullying.

Below are some online resources to support these discussions:
