Gmail for Students

Empower students to take ownership of learning by leveraging Gmail features.

All students will have the ability to email within the District and select outside resources starting Fall 2017.

  • Students will be able to create free accounts to amazing resources that require account verification through email, such as Khan Academy, TED Ed, Spark, Scratch, etc.
  • Students can view responses to forms, comments and grades posted in Google Classroom and communicate with their teachers.
  • Secondary students can email college and career organizations as long as the domains are on the allowed list. (All .edu sites will be automatically allowed. All other domains require teacher requests through HelpStar.)

All teachers should go over Digital Citizenship with students at the start of the year.  One enjoyable, impactful way to have students create norms for using Gmail is to enter the Rap & Rollout Contest.

  • San Lorenzo USD has access to Flocabulary through the end of September.  Students and staff can use the demo account to view resources for creating rap poetry/songs and access their rich library of songs for inspiration.
