Code of Conduct
Our school follows these four rules in order to maintain an environment that promotes educational excellence and a safe school*.
  1. Students will show respect and courtesy to all students and adults.
  2. Students will show respect for school property.
  3. Students will follow classroom rules.
  4. Students will follow hallway, playground, and bathroom rules.
* These rules also apply while waiting for, traveling on, and exiting school buses, on field trips, or at any school sponsored event.
  1. Students will show respect and courtesy to all students and adults.
    1. Students will use appropriate language and gestures. Swearing, name calling or racial comments are not allowed.
    2. Students will always play safely. Shoving, pushing, or play fighting are not allowed.
    3. Students are to respectfully follow directions of ALL adult staff in the school. Defiant language and/or behavior is not allowed.
  2. Students will show respect for school property.
    1. Vandalism to personal or school property is not allowed.
    2. Students are NOT to bring or chew gum or sunflower seeds at school. Candy is not to be eaten unless it is part of a school lunch or activity.
  3. Students will follow classroom rules. This includes rules while in the library, computer room, music and at P.E.
    1. Students are expected to do what the teacher asks.
    2. Students are expected to follow the rules of the Internet Policy.
    3. No pets, toys, games, electronics, game cards or sports equipment are to be brought to school. Hesperian School does not assume responsibility for items brought to school from home.
  4. Students will follow hallway, playground, and bathroom rules.
    1. Hallway Rules
      • No playing, loitering, or running in the hallways.
      • Students must have a pass to leave the classroom or playground to be admitted to the office.
    2. Playground Rules:
      • Students will remain within the designated play areas.
      • Students will use all playground equipment safely and according to the rules of the game.
      • Students will not bring out food for ŇsnackÓ recess except to designated snack areas.
    3. Bathroom Rules: Keep our bathrooms clean!
      • There will be no playing in and around the bathrooms.
      • Students should use the bathroom during recess time.
      • For safety reasons, students will not travel to the restroom alone during classtime.
    4. Cafeteria Rules:
      • Students will enter and exit the cafeteria in a quiet and orderly manner.
      • Students will show respect for others in the cafeteria.
      • Students will talk in a soft voice while in the cafeteria.
      • Students will remain seated at their own table until dismissed.
      • Students are expected to clean up after themselves.


Incentives:
Classroom:
Every classroom discipline plan includes recognition for positive student behavior. Teachers also recognize student effort, good attendance, and outstanding achievement.
 
Schoolwide: Shine tickets are given to students for exhibiting our character traits, showing courtesy, keeping the school clean, and being a good friend. Names are drawn weekly to award prizes. Students are also recognized for Perfect and Outstanding attendance.
