Retired Chromebooks Initiative

Chromebooks are being retired because they can no longer hold a charge all day (no problem at home) and/or their track pads are starting to slow down (no problem with a mouse).

A first step towards 24/7 device access for students.

San Lorenzo USD is launching site-based Retired Chromebook Initiative so that students can checkout a Chromebook for use at home.  Each site will receive a limited number of retired Chromebooks (based on ADA and the number of Retired Chromebooks that are available) for distribution.

Retired Chromebooks are subject to Google's Auto Update Expiration (AUE) that is set by Google.  All retired Chromebooks are deprovisioned from the district network, therefore, parental permission will be required prior to device checkout by parent.  It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to supervise the information that a student is accessing from the Internet while at home.
