The school buildings in San Lorenzo were built in the late 1940's and the 1950's. These school buildings have served generations of San Lorenzo, San Leandro and Hayward children and provide a gathering place for community members. The San Lorenzo Unified District provides an education program for preschoolers through adults, with nine elementary schools, three middle schools, four high schools and one adult school. The Construction Management Department oversees the facilities construction bond and all capital improvement projects. The Independent Citizen's Oversight Committee, which consists of at least seven community members, provides oversight of bond expenditures.
