Measure J

San Lorenzo School District
Measure J

On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, all of the voters in the San Lorenzo Unified School District will be asked to vote on Measure J. Measure J is a $99 per year parcel tax that will provide the School District with a reliable, local source of funds to support and maintain math, English, science and other classroom programs. Measure J will last for eight years and requires a two-thirds voter approval for passage.

Measure J protects our schools. Measure J will raise approximately $2 million annually to support core academic classes at 9 elementary, 3 middle and 4 high schools.
Measure J will:
  • Allow the district to attract great teachers and staff
  • Maintain and strengthen reading and writing programs
  • Maintain essential district programs such as music and art
  • Upgrade and maintain the computers and technology used by students and teachers
All of the funds raised by Measure J will be spent in our local classrooms. None of these funds can be spent on district administrators. Measure J also offers an exemption for property owners who are disabled or 65 years of age or older.

Measure J provides for accountability as funds are spent. An Independent Citizens Oversight Committee will monitor and review all Measure J expenditures. This committee of local residents will make sure that all funds are spent for the benefit of local students.

An exemption is available for those 65 and over. An exemption from Measure J is available to those who are at least 65 years old and own and reside in their home.

None of these funds will be spent on district administration. All of the funds raised by Measure J will be spent in our local classrooms.
