Families who are new to the San Lorenzo Unified School District, or current families with new children starting school, will now complete enrollment at the SLZUSD District Office or online, instead of going to an individual school site.
Starting May 5 for middle school students and May 12 for elementary students, families should use the new in-person enrollment office at 15510 Usher St. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and will stay open through the summer, except for holidays on May 26, June 19, and July 4.
Previously, families enrolling new students in elementary or middle school were required to visit their intended school site if they needed in-person support, but schools are closed during the summer. New families with incoming high school students will continue to be helped by the College, Career & Enrollment team in the new office.
School staff will tell families who have questions about enrollment to visit the new center, but they will still help families who started the process before the change. Families can still use the online school locator to find out which school serves their home address, but the final choice may depend on specific circumstances.
The new enrollment center, located in a wing opposite the cemetery on the north end of the District Office, will offer laptop and notebook computers that families can use to begin their enrollment online, with assistance as needed. Families should consult the online enrollment webpage for details on documents they will need to complete enrollment, such as proof of residency, student age verification and immunization records.
The new enrollment center is located in a wing of the District Office, across from the cemetery. Families will use laptops and notebooks there to start their enrollment online, with help as needed. The online enrollment page provides a list of documents needed to enroll, such as proof of residency, student age and immunization records.
These changes will make the enrollment process easier and help the district meet students' needs, while reducing the demands on school staff, said Allison Crawford, the College, Career & Enrollment coordinator.
"We’ll have a close connection with Student Support Services to quickly help students who need extra support," Crawford said.
This new system will not affect current families whose students are moving up to the next grade. Returning families will need to confirm their information in the Aeries system in August, and they’ll receive instructions by email.
