District Independent Contract Education (DICE)
The District Independent Contract Education (DICE) program is a voluntary alternative educational opportunity. The program is designed to serve elementary, middle, and high school students. Students are instructed by certificated teachers in individual and/or small groups.
DICE provides the following programs of study:
- Direct Instruction: Students are generally seen for 4 hours per week. In addition to direct instruction, students are expected to complete 18-30 hours per week of homework between sessions.
- Home & Hospital Instruction: For students confined to their homes due to physical disability, illness, injury, or confinement for psychological or psychiatric reasons. Instruction is provided by a teacher in the student’s home or another setting. Students in the Home Instruction program are served 4-6 hours weekly, depending on their academic, physical, or mental health status.
