Newsela

Newsela ELA is a software program for SLZUSD educators that provides literacy instruction by leveraging differentiated content, with scaffolds, to encourage close reading and help students engage in active learning. Students use authentic, real-world content with standards-aligned assessments to practice ELA skills.

 

As an added benefit, teachers can leverage Newsela content to help build background knowledge, make emergency lesson plans, and assign research projects in all subject areas.
