SLZUSD Recognizes Accomplishments in English Development and World Languages
The California State Seal of Biliteracy
San Lorenzo Unified School District awarded 35 graduating seniors with the California State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2025-2026 school year. Additionally, elementary students in our Bilingual and Dual Language Immersion Programs were presented with Pathways Awards for their pursuit of bilingualism. Congratulations to all recipients!
The California State Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by a school, district, or county office of education to recognize students who have studied and attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages (in addition to English) by the time they graduate.
To qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy, high school students must meet the criteria established by Assembly Bill 815 (Brownley, Chapter 618, Statues of 2011), which became effective January 1, 2012.
The Seal of Biliteracy encourages students to pursue biliteracy, honors the skills our students attain, and can be evidence of skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions offices. Our vision is to help students recognize the value of their academic success and see the tangible benefits of being bilingual.
