Common Core State Standards
On August 2, 2010, the State Board of Education adopted new academic content standards.
The California Common Core State Standards were developed through a state-led initiative to establish consistent and clear education standards across the nation for English-language arts and mathematics that would better prepare students for success in the competitive global economy.
A "standard" is defined as the knowledge, concepts, and skills that students should acquire at each grade level.
