Department of State and Federal Programs

The Department of State and Federal Programs is responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal entitlement grants by providing guidance in understanding, interpreting, and applying information to improve instructional programs.
  • Disseminating grant and funding allocations. 
  • Reviewing and processing grant requests for department and school sites. 
  • Providing evaluations to comply with state and federal funding and program guidelines to district administrators with timely reports to the California Department of Education.

Prop 28: Arts and Music in Schools

Prop 28 provides funds for additional music and art programs for all schools in the San Lorenzo Unified School District. 
 
Music and Arts programs "...include (but is not limited to) instruction and training, supplies, materials, and arts educational partnership programs for instruction in dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts including folk art, painting, sculpture, photography, craft arts, creative expression including graphic arts and design, computer coding, animation, music composition, ensembles, script writing, costume design, film, and video."  - California Department of Education

After School Programs

Schools in the San Lorenzo Unified School District have a variety of after school programs that are school or community-sponsored or state and federally funded. Examples of after school programs include after school sports, on-site care programs, homework clubs, Boys and Girls Club, the QUAD program and other clubs at the high school level based on interest groups. Please contact your child's school for more detailed information on after school program options available on campus and how to enroll.

After School Care Programs (Elementary)

Boys and Girls Club of San Leandro (BGCSL) has programs at our elementary schools through the Extended Learning and Opportunities Program (ELOP) Grant. The programs at Colonial Acres, Hesperian, Hillside and Lorenzo Manor are also simultaneously supported by the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program Grant.

After School Care Programs (Middle)

Boys and Girls Club of San Leandro (BGCSL) provides programing at our middle schools through the Extended Learning and Opportunities Program (ELOP) Grant.  Edendale Middle School is also supported by the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program Grant.
